SHE SHOOK ME COLD David Bowie, The Man Who Sold the World GUITARIST: MICK RONSON
“This is a great combination of David Bowie singing like Ozzy Osbourne, with Mick Ronson and bassist Tony Visconti having an extended mad string-bending competition. Much of the time, I have no idea where ‘one’ is, and the notes are frequently pulled sharper than you would think would ever work. But everyone is listening to each other, and reacting musically to each other, and they find their way back to the song brilliantly. One of my favorite parts is where the bass guitar stops, seemingly ‘giving up,’ as no more can be done. The guitar continues jamming with the drums (where is one?!), until the bass joins again, pushing the whole jam up a sonic ramp.”
