I’VE ALWAYS HAD a soft spot for catchy, Hammond organ-fronted instrumental music where the guitarist gets his fair share of the spotlight (think of Grant Green with Baby Face Willette or Steve Cropper with Booker T. & the M.G.’s). These days, there’s no better example than the funky Delvon Lamarr Organ Trio and their on-the-rise guitar star, Jimmy James. This Thursday-night party of a song has actually been available for months, but it’s finally been joined by the other eight tracks on the band’s new album, I Told You So. The record includes a seriously addictive cover of Wham’s “Careless Whisper” — and a whole lotta Jimmy James. — Damian Fanelli
