MARC BOLAN'S ELECTRIC WARRIORS

-

THE MAIN GUITARS Bolan used for recording Electric Warrior were a Fifties Les Paul Standard, purchased in a customized, semiopaque orange finish, and a white Sixties Strat. The Les Paul was stolen after a rehearsal in 1977 and has never been recovered; the white Strat was smashed beyond repair by Bolan while onstage. Bolan used Vampower 100W amps and 4x12 cabs, made by now-defunct U.K. manufacturer Vamp (see the iconic Electric Warrior cover photo above). His effects setup was very simple, as it was for most guitarists at that time, comprising a Dallas Rangemaster treble booster, a Wem Copicat [tape echo] and a wah pedal.
