Halifax Courier

A thriving and diverse retail

-

Queens Road has been blighted by major road works for many months, so its no susprise the owners of businesses along this, one of outer-Halifax’s busiest shopping streets, are breathing a collective sigh of relief as the work is finally complete. After all the upheaval Queens Road, which boasts an eclectic mix of businesses and food outlets, can get back to normal. The road which spans Pellon at one end and King Cross at the other is a thriving hub of both long-standing businesses and recent arrivals. Lara Stansfield, owner of Warilda Dog Grooming has operated from the centre of Queens Road for more than 25 years. Lara says many of her customer are now coming back with third generation dogs.

Further down the street is another long standing, business, Autoparts Direct. As our photograph shows, this is an aladdins cave of all things automotive - whatever you need you’re bound to find it here. The business is curently offering a 10 per cent discount promotion with their advert. Just cut it out and take it along with you the next time you visit. Royal Fisheries has been established 16 years and has become a popular food outlet on Queens Road.

It is always busy which is testament to the quality of food, but regulars will tell you its well worth the extra few minutes wait when your order arrives. New businesses along Queens Road include Opticare opticians which is conveniently located near the Health Centre.

It offers both NHS service and private eyecare and is a welcome addition to the area. Queens Road Pharmacy and Brook Pharmacy take care of all the neigbourhood’s medicinal needs . The former has recently expanded its services offering many non emergency consultations for minor ailments. It offers late night opening too from 8am until 11pm.

And if you’re in the market for a new bathroom you’d do well to visit Halifax Bathrooms who take care of everything from design to fitting.

Our features gives just a taste of this vibrant area. But don’t take out word for it, go there yourself. You will not be disappointed.
