The wait is over for thousands of students as they receive their GCSE results. Yet, the learning doesn’t stop there. In the past, the school leaving age was 16. However, since September 2013, teenagers now are required stay in some form of education until the academic year of their 17th birthday. This will rise to 18 in 2015.
If you are interested in becoming a professional chef or a hospitality manager, then you could start your career with The Cooking School in Dean Clough. Offering apprenticeships in professional cookery and hospitality with employers across Calderdale, West Yorkshire and beyond, The Cooking School at Dean Clough is a centre of excellence for this type of apprenticeship. Expert tutors with a high level of commercial expertise offer one-to-one support for learners alongside regular masterclasses and after 12 months, you will have an NVQ level 2, leading onto the next level of learning or continued full time employment. A taster day is running on Friday, August 22, from 3-6pm at The Cooking School in D Mill Dean Clough and on September 10 from 10am to noon. Learners are welcome to bring parents, teachers, carers or employers with them and attendance is totally free.
