Students rise to the challenge

Students from The North Halifax Grammar School have once again achieved some outstandin­g GCSE results. Well over half of all results were at the top A* and A grades and more than eight out of every ten grades were at grade B or better.

Fourty- s i x s tudent s achieved ten or more A*/A grades while more than 60 per cent of the students achieved at least five A* and A grades.

Headteache­r, Andrew Fisher, said, “Many congrat- ulations to all of our students who have done so well. The rest of the staff and I are delighted that so much hard work has paid off. Government reforms are clearly starting to bite and it is harder than ever to achieve the higher standards being demanded. I am very pleased that so many of our students have risen to the challenge.”

Among the highest individual achievers (gaining five A* or more) were Natasha Archer (eight A*, four As, one B), Heidi-Faye Bates (11 A*, three As), Isabelle Bull (five A*, five As, two Bs), Daniel Charlton ( six A*, three As, three Bs, one C), Ciara Duffy (eight A*, five As), Aisling Dunn (ten A*, three As), Ellie Farrar (eight A*, four As, one B), Dominic Gray (six A*, five As, two Bs), Roisin Johnston McCondrach (six A*, seven As), Jakub Jozefowicz (six A*, six As, one B), Sophie Karandikar (seven A*, six As), Anna Matischen (eight A*, six As), Alexander Nunn (six A*, six As), Fraser Parnell (five A*, seven As, one B), Kethaki Prathivadi Bhayankara­m (eight A*, six As), Sophie Raistrick (five A*, eight As, one C), Joseph Thompson (six A*, six As), Chloe Tingle (nine A*, four As), Charlotte Walshaw (seven A*, four As, one B), Lauren Whiteley (six A*, seven As, one B).
