Rescue team is top charity

Calder Valley Search and Rescue Team are celebrating after being selected to be the Sainsbury’s Charity of the Year.

The Mytholmroyd-based rescue team will receive a year’s worth of fundraising and awareness support. The ‘Local Charity’ scheme is in its sixth year and has raised more than £6 million to support charities in the community. Gearing into action, the first fundraising event will be a ‘Big Bike Ride’ cycle challenge, where colleagues from Sainbury’s Halifax will cycle around the region calling at all 18 stores.
