Rotary Club

15 members and 1 visitor, Malcolm Knowles a former member, attended a meeting of The Rotary Club of Elland at Baines Hall, Elland Cricket Club, on Monday 11th August at 7.15 pm. A decision was made not to toast The Queen on nights where no meal was served. This was welcomed as a way of making the meetings less formal. It was announced that the RYLA Candidate is to speak to the club on Monday 15th Septembe and that there is to be a Horse Race Night on 15th April. It was also decided that the monies collected at Morrisons for the Santa Sleigh should go to Elland Charities, and that monies collected at other venues should go to National and International Charities. It was a lively meeting and many members stayed on for a social drink in the bar afterwards, a good sign of the friendly atmosphere at Elland Rotary Club.
