Memories of embarrassing defeat should spur West Riding

-

Ovenden West Riding will be hoping the weather relents enough for them to make the journey to Mirfield to take on Lower Hopton in the West Riding County Amateur League tomorrow (2.0).

It will be a revenge mission for Danny Megson’s side after a humiliating4-0 defeat at Natty Lane in November.

Ovenden missed a string of chances before Hopton showed them how it should be done in the Premier Division contest..

The vastly experienced Lincoln Adams has marshalled the likes of Matt Mulvi- hill , Paul Pyke , Declan –James Thomas and Sylbert Stewart into a very useful outfit.

West Riding should be at full strength for this vital encounter and if the likes of John Booth, Jordan Coduri and Steve Senior are on form they are capable of picking up all three points in their title bid.

Halifax Irish bid to upset the form book at home to runaway leaqgue leaders Golcar United, who have lost just once this season.

Irish have stuttered after a decent start to the campaign and defeat could see some of the teams below them - all of whom have ganes in hand - start to reel Ellerby’s side into the danger zone.

Ovenden West Riding Reserves are due to receive bottom of the table Salts Reserves to Shroggs Park (2.0) in Division Two.

Ian Smith’s side need to collect three points if they are to maintain their challenge for the second promotion place behind Gildersome Spur.

Salts are having a very poor season and the likes of Scott Carney, Leon Hurles-Brook, Josh Brown and Ryan Carney will hopefully keep West Riding in second place.
