No throwing stones under ASBO ruling

A man has been given an ASBO which bans him from drinking in public places and throwing stones at people, buildings or cars. If Jordan Gilligan, 18, breaches the terms of the ASBO (antisocial behaviour order) issued by Calderdale Magistrates’ then he faces jail.

The two-year ASBO, which was sought by West Yorkshire Police and Calderdale Council due to Gilligan’s anti-social behaviour in Hebden Bridge, is valid until 11.59pm on March 26, 2017, and is designed to “protect the people of Calderdale from further anti-social acts”.

The order bans Gilligan from:

Acting in an anti- social manner, that is to say, in a manner that causes or is likely to cause harassment, alarm or distress to one or more persons not of the same household as himself within the area of Calderdale (examples of which would be him acting in a way which makes them feel frightened, scared, worried or upset because of his behaviour which could be shouting, screaming, swearing or throwing items at them or their property).

Except on licensed premises, being in possession of any open vessel (including a can or bottle) containing any intoxicating liquor, in any public place in Calderdale.

Consuming alcohol in any public place in Calderdale.

Entering or remaining at any time the grounds of or building of Luddenden Youth Centre at Kershaw Drive, Luddenden Foot, Halifax.

Entering or remaining at any time the grounds of or building of The Co-operative Store, Market Street, Hebden Bridge.

Throwing any items or objects including stones at any person, car or building within the area of Calderdale.

Approaching and communicating directly or indirectly certain people who were involved with this case.

Encouraging or inciting others to do any of the prohibited acts contained within this order.

Anyone who witnesses Gilligan breaching the terms of his ASBO is asked to call police on the non-emergency 101 number.
