Ryburn desperate to win clash of Uniteds

-

With just two games left in the Haslem-Sheppard Halifax AFL, reigning champions Ryburn United are three points clear of Stump Cross, who have played one game fewer. Ryburn are on a 12-game unbeaten run and have been boosted by the return of prolific scorer Chris Silkstone.

They go out tomorrow against Shelf United knowing they must win their remaining two games and Shelf are sure to be feeling the strain after a hectic spell.

Stump Cross look back in the driving seat courtesy of their superior goal difference.

Stump host Midgley United in what looks the toughest of their remaining games.

Tony Kniveton’s side won 2-1 at Midgley earlier in the season and will be happy with a similar scoreline tomorrow.

Calder ‘76 are unbeaten in seven games and a top three finish is now a possibility.

Calder host a Copley United side who will want to end their season with a win.

Two sides that have had a good season so far meet at Hebden Royd Red Star where Northowram are the visitors. It could be a close contest.

Warley Rangers won through to the Challenge Cup final last weekend and will be in a confident mood when they take on Elland United.

Division One title favourites Holmfield take on Elland Allstars and should win.

Second-placed Mixenden United could clinch promotion when they travel to Midgley United Reserves.

AFC Crossleys should win at bottom of the table Greetland Reserves while Denholme United thrashed Volunteer Arms 8-0 recently and will be looking for a repeat.

Halifax Irish Centre, fighting hard to avoid the drop, could make it tough for Calder ‘76 Reserves. Tomorrow - Premier: Calder 76 v Copley Utd (ref S.Hoyle), Elland Utd v Warley Rangers (P.Higgins), Hebden Royd RS v Northowram (P.Crabtree), Ryburn Utd v Shelf Utd (R.Varley), Stump Cross v Midgley Utd (M.Beard).
