Quinn delighted, but hard work goes on

-

The season may have ended for Brighouse Town last Saturday but the work goes on for manager Paul Quinn and his coaching staff. Town brought the curtain down on their Evo-Stik NPL Division One North campaign with a hard-working 2-2 draw with Northwich Victoria that took their unbeaten run to seven games.

The result means that Paul Quinn’s side finished a highlycreditable 14th.

The visitors went ahead through Josh Amis on 21 minutes but Brighouse were level just ahead of the break when Ben Thornton’s shot came back off the post and Ryan Hall laid the ball off for Ernest Boafo to net.

Hall then fired the home side ahead in the second half following a long clearance from ‘keeper Jacob Giles, but Northwich claimed a share of the spoils through Gary Burnett’s 73rd minute effort.

Quinn has been taking in some of the end of season play-off matches in his contant search for players.

He and assistant Mark Booth are also sorting the retained list with a number of players committing themselves for next season.

Striker Ernest Boafo is one along with midfielders James Hurley, Ryan Hall, Kurt Harris, defenders Leon Henry and Ben Thornton.

Top hitman Tom Matthews will not be on contract next term because of work commitments but wants to be avail- able for selection.

“We haven’t got round to the other players as of yet, although I feel Danny Hull will not be staying with us owing to his full time employment,” said Quinn.

“There will be a new role for Martin Allison next term as he would like to do some coaching alongside Rob Wilson, Mark and myself and goalkeeping coach Paul Brown who is also retained.

“We are also bringing back in Adam Hewlett for some conditioning work in pre-season as it was very beneficial last term.

“We were all delighted with the end of season run-in when remaining unbeaten for seven games and it proved we could match it with anyone in the division.” Evo-Stik Northern League Division 1 North Final table
