Mum bounces back thanks to treatment
A woman who once struggled to cuddle her newborn baby because of a severe back condition has a new lease of life thanks to a pioneering treatment. Kara Handford was once active and full of energy, but this changed when she began to suffer from constant, excruciating pain.
She later discovered the symptoms were caused by the extremely severe back condition, scoliosis, which causes the spine to curve excessively sideways.
And after being told her only option was a major - and risky - operation Kara began to search for any alternative treatment she could find.
Hundreds of pounds later, Kara, who lives in Southowram, was still in pain and despite the joy of discovering she was expecting her first child, worried about the strain her baby would have on her body.
After giving birth, Kara’s pain grew so severe she struggled to hold her baby daughter and in a desperate attempt to stop the pain she considered having major spinal fusion surgery.
But, by chance she discovered Scoliosis SOS, the only clinic to offer a range of nonsurgical treatments, and has never looked back.
