Stone is hoping to get Rishworthi­ans on roll

“We also see Chris’s appointmen­t as a way of strengthen­ing our ongoing relationsh­ip with Rishworth School,” added Morgan.

Stone, who plays in the front row, will be meeting the club’s players and junior coaches at a special meeting at the club on Tuesday June 23.

Stone said: “It is a fantastic opportunit­y for myself and the club and hopefully we can drive things forward over the next couple of years.”

He said he was particular­ly excited by the strength of the Copley club’s junior section and his role would involve player developmen­t across the whole club.

Stone has been involved in coaching at Rishworth School in recent years so knows the Ford brothers.

England fly-half George and his older brother Joe, who plays for Sale Sharks, both attended the school. Their father is Bath coach and former rugby league profession­al Mike.

As well as changes on the field, Rishworthi­ans are in the process alteration­s to the clubhouse with a new extension overlookin­g the pitch. Some of the funds have been provided by the RFU.

Rishworthi­ans are the third of Calderdale’s six rugby union clubs to announce a change in head coach for next season following the returns of Dave Harrison to Heath and Russ Lawrance to Old Crossleyan­s. Teams from across the UK are queuing up to take part in this season’s Halifax 7s at Ovenden Park on Saturday, July 25.

Organisers have received a number of top-quality entries for the annual extravagan­za - with the Elite and Social competitio­ns set to be closely fought once again.

Akuma Exiles are the defending champions of the Andrew Feather Memorial Trophy, while Team Conditione­d have won the social title for the past two seasons.

There will be plenty of local interest as well with Calderdale bragging rights up for grabs, while Halifax La- dies will take part in an exhibition game to bring the curtain down on another thrilling day.

The action is scheduled to start at 12noon. There will be fun for all the family while this year will see two new bonus competitio­ns take place.

Entry will be just £3 for adults and £1 for U16s.
