- By Lucinda Abbott

The beach is coming to town this weekend as people head down to the Halifax By The Sea extravaganza. Visitors can enjoy an array of attractions including an amusement park, Punch and Judy show, a beach and crazy mirrors at Savile Park.

Rides include the Millennium, which spins 360 degrees upside down at high speed and over 25 metres skyward, and the Speed Buzz where passengers will experience thrills at over 50mph over 33 metres high.

Event organiser, Stewart Robinson, said: “We are providing three fantastic days for the people of Halifax and surrounding areas.

“We are certainly proud to be able to bring a huge show back to the town for a weekend of fabulous entertainment which everyone can afford to visit.”

Children can test their skill on one of the UK’s biggest fun houses as well as bungee trampolines, Zorbs and water boats.

The event will also feature an arena which will see the Little Nippers Terrier Racing Team performing on the Saturday and the Mark Stannage Stunt Display Team on the Sunday.

And on Saturday there will be photo opportunities with ice princesses between 3pm and 7pm.

Mr Robinson added: “Hopefully people will come down to Savile Park and support us and make this a truly wonderful occasion.”

Children’s rides will cost £1 and large rides will be £1.50, with the exception of Devil Rock, Speed Buzz, bungee trampolines, the dodgems and water attractions which will be slightly more.

The event will open tonight between 5pm and 9pm, on Saturday between noon and 9pm and on Sunday between noon and 6pm.

Car parking is free and admission to the event costs £1 with free fun fair vouchers in return on Saturday and Sunday only.
