Be not afraid

-

The time is near when we will be thinking about holidays and a break from the everyday routine of life.

The sound of the sea beckons with sun baked sands. This is a time when we need to relax ready to return to our work refreshed. So, where are we to go to feel safe and secure?

It should be the peak tourist season in the palm fringed resort of Sousse on the north east coast of Tunisia, the beaches crowded with sun-worshippers under thatched umbrellas and the turquoise Mediterranean busy with boats and swimmers. Here you might have thought you had got away from any danger and yet it was here we witnessed the most devastating attack on British civilians since the July 7th bombings a decade ago. The images we saw were powerful and horrific. How much longer can this madness continue?

We clearly live in a world where there are people whose whole aim is one of destruction and death. They have no love or compassion. These are people with no moral values. Why have things gone so badly wrong?

We live in a world where people have turned away from God. They have turned away from his laws. They are intent on evil and suffering with no regard to common humanity. This happens when people turn away from an ideology of love and peace which Jesus brought to this world. It shows the extent to which some have reached in their depravity.

It has been rightly said that as terrorists try to divide people around the world, they will only unite us more strongly in our determination to root out this evil in our society. Courage and strength are necessary for this fight.‘
