Helen from Northowram News would like to thank everyone who helped raise £1,175 pounds in memory of Danny Jones. The concert held at Northowram Methodist Church was compered by the world champion whistler David Morris. It was opened by David Summerskil­l who welcomed a full house of over 80 people. James Shepherd and friends (Philip Varley, Claire Chalk, Michael Silson, Joe Silson, David Pogson, Helen Varley, Andrew McKinley, Trebor Slade, Colin Aspinall, Ian Clough and conductor Phil Chalk) presented a varied programme which included Blaze Away, The Impresario, Sugar Blues,Love changes everything, Trumpet Triplets,Argentina and Hava Nagila. A sing-along, which the audience sang with enthusiasm included My Old Man, It’s a long way and On Ilkley Moor. After the interval the programme included Colonel Bogey, I don’t know hot to love him”, Eye Level, How great thou art, Demelza, Moonlight Serenade and Floral Dance. Helen would like to thank Keighley Cougars, Bradford Bulls, Thornton and Wrights Opticians, Towngate Brasserie, Wayne Anthonys, Bardolinos, Planet Fitness, Tesco, Taylors Butchers (Shelf), Northowram Fisheries, Eighteen Coffee shop, Mary Lewis, Coley Nurseries, Shoulder of Mutton (Northowram), Bottomleys Arms (Shelf), Duke of York (Shelf), Toots Photograph­y, Joseph Fee and Sweeney Todd for raffle prizes. Also a big “Thank you” to Northowram Methodist Church and John Rush for his help and everyone who attended the concert and bought raffle tickets. Some of the members of the Shibden Women Institute went to the Summer lunch at Wilsden Village Hall. There were around 80 ladies altogether from across West Yorkshire Federation and they were treated to a display of chocolate truffle -making by Andy Lloyd before being served with a three-course lunch. After lunch Andy took off his white chocolatie­r’s coat and put on his entertaine­r’s outfit to sing a variety of songs.
