Harriers’ Aspinall marks return from injury with excellent Hoofstones run
THERE WAS a great turn-out for the Hoofstones race, which takes competitors from the Staff of Life pub up to Hoofstones Heights, the highest point in Todmorden, and back again.
There were 67 runners taking part in the race organised by Harriers’ Dan Taylor and the mist covering the valley made navigation difficult.
The first finisher for Todmorden was Danny Aspinall who put in an impressive performance in his first race back following injury.
He managed fifth place and was closely followed by Ian
Symington in seventh and Chris Kay in 15th. The impressive trio went on to win the men’s team prize.
Thanks go to the Staff of Life pub for hosting the event, which also raised a total of £200 for charity.
Todmorden results: 5 Danny Aspinall, 7 Ian Symington, 15 Chris Kay, 16 Rob Holdsworth, 18 Ricky Parrish, 49 Joshua Fenton-Glynn.
The third race in the club championship and first in the road calendar saw 17 Harriers taking part in the St Anne’s 10mile road race.
The race along the coast of
St Anne’s takes runners down the promenade before looping around Fairhaven lake.
With conditions described as ‘bracing’, there was an excellent turn out from the Todmorden club runners, who wanted to test themselves on the flat and fast course.
The battle towards the front of the race between Todmorden’s Nick Barber and Darren Shackleton was extremely close but it was the former who came out on top, finishing in 13th position overall with Shackleton in 14th.
With
Richard
Butterwick in support, they claimed third spot in the men’s team rankings.
Todmorden ladies Emma Fiedler, Katie Samuelson and Katch Skinner put in a great performance to grab third in the team list.
