Old Crossleyans made Regional 2 North East leaders Moortown fight for their 3525 success.

The hosts started well and took the lead with a penalty, following strong drives from Ross Peltier and Sam Ives.

Moortown hit back with a try but winger Matty Beswick charged over for Crocs to keep them firmly in contention going into the second period.

The visitors produced a clinical display on the resumption to add to their try tally but fine defending from Tom Metcalfe and Cameron Brannan kept the leaders honest.

Peltier hit a hard line to race over in the final quarter and George Bannam crossed to keep Crocs within two scores.

Rob Oliver scored, following a darting run by Joe Stott, but it was too little, too late as Moortown saw out the win.

On Saturday, Crocs travel to Morley who inflicted a 54-24 defeat on visitors Old Brodleians last weekend.

Brods will hope for better fortunes when they travel to Bradford and Bingley on Saturday.

Old Rishworthian scored 13 tries in their 850 demolition of Counties 1 Yorkshire strugglers Dinnington.

No fewer than 11 different players crossed the whitewash for the hosts, who are

fifth and seven points adrift of second-placed Wetherby.

Right wing Aaron Nowell opened the scoring and more first half tries followed from Noah Navarro (2), Harrison Trathen, Doug Heseltine, Kris Hattam, Harry Whitfield, Jacob Bower and Finn

Sutcliffe as Rishes took a 61-0 lead into half-time .

Scrum-half Arthur Wilkinson started the try trail for the home side on the resumption and although Dinnington briefly rallied, normal service was resumed through Sutcliffe, who raced

clear from his own 22 to bag his second interception try in two games.

Lock Callum Bell barged through to score another try before Barron charged over to complete the rout.

The development team completed a fine day for Rishworthians

with a 43-19 victory at Cleckheaton.

Jasper Brown bagged a brace while other tries were registered by Anthony Shoesmith, Ollie Morris, Craig Strickland and Josh Kelly, who also kicked five conversions and a penalty.
