Harriers make the most of fine conditions to clock best times
Perfect racing conditions helped five Halifax Harriers register personal best times at the Salford 10k.
The Harriers, who finished second team behind hosts Salford, saw Tom Hodgson clock a personal best and a new MV35 club record of 31:14, in seventh place overall.
Harry Johnson took two minutes off his best time to finish 18th in 32:48 while Alex Franklin set a new best and club MU20 record of 32.54 to claim 19th place and second in his age group.
There were also bests for Liam Parkin (35:24) and Will Stewart (37:05) while April Caulfield (40:42), Cara Bintcliffe (46:53), John Moore (55:07) and Susan Hall (66:24 and second FV70) also ran.
John Moore competed again in Sunday's Hale Village 5 on Sunday, clocking 44:29.
Geoff and Sarah Cumber both enjoyed success in Sunday's 5k race at the Isle of Man Easter Festival of Running.
Sarah was second in the WV50 category with a time of 19:44, finishing 23rd overall. Geoff won the MV75 age category in 27:04.
Rob McDonald represented Great Britain at the World Indoor Masters Championships in Torun in Poland.
He competed in the 200m and 400m double in the V55 age category but just failed to qualify for the finals.
A dozen Harriers ran in the first of the ever popular annual series of Bunny Runs.
Brothers Will and Eli Cattermole
both came first in their age categories of U17s and U15s respectively. Nigel Crossfield was second MV50.
The event featured in the club's Senior Fell League championships with Ben
Crowther and Verity Clements securing maximum points in the men's and women's divisions. Crowther finished fifth overall in 17:01.
Nigel Crossfield completed the Rivington Pike Fell
Race, a 3.2 mile course with 700 feet of ascent, in 24:04.
The Bunny Run formed part of the Stainland Lions’ Fell Racing Championship and Kevin Robinson led the way in 39th place. Lindsay Upton
completed her first ever fell race and Aileen Baldwin was first FV70.
Chris Hall clocked 36:43 to finish 93rd in the Salford 10k.
Saturday’s Wardle Skyline Fell Race was a counter in
both the Club Championship and Club Fell Racing Championship. James Penson was the first Lion home, just under the hour mark, and there was an age category win for Aileen Baldwin.
