Calder valley candidate for next election chosen by conservatives
Vanessa Lee has been selected astheConservativePartycandidate for Calder Valley at the next general election.
An experienced tax advisor, she lives in Brearley near Mytholmroyd.
Originally from Hull, she studied accountancy in the North East before moving back to Yorkshire in 1997 where she started a graduate role at PwC.
She has had a long and successful career working in the financial world and dealing with complex tax issues while also supporting charities locally and nationally, and was selected by Conservative members in the constituency last week.
She will be campaigning to replace Craig Whittaker as Calder Valley’s MP at the next election.
Mt Whittaker has announced he is stepping down at the next election having served as the constituency’s MP since 2010.
Vanessa, the founder of Danaus Consulting and a lay member of the council of Hull University, said she was proud and excited to have been selected as the Conservative candidate in her home constituency of Calder Valley.
“Craig has served Calder Valley with great distinction for over 13 years, and it is a great honour to be provided with the opportunity to follow him and build on his legacy.
“Craig Whittaker has done, and continues, to do an excellent job as the area’s MP and I will do everything I can to make sure I can step into his shoes at the next general election,” she said.
“I know people living and working here want an MP to get on with the job and deliver on the government’s plans.
“The people’s priorities in Calder Valley are the government’s priorities and I want to help halve inflation, grow the economy, reduce debt, cut waiting lists and stop the boats.
"Fiscal management and sensible leadership are vital in these tough economic times. I will work tirelessly to ensure that the people of Calder Valley are represented in a manner that they can be proud of.”
“Until the next election, I will be working hard to show people here I am the right person to become their MP and help improve the lives of families right across the constituency.
“Calder Valley needs a Conservative MP who understands local issues to help improve lives for everybody here,” she added.
