Halifax Hockey Club’s U10s girls team came away with two wins and a draw from their four league games in Ben Rhydding.

Halifax lost 1-0 to Northallerton side but drew 0-0 with hosts Ben Rhydding before ending the day on a high with a 5-0 rout of Wakefield. Leiyla Hoyland (2), Alice Birnie (2) and Chloe Watson hit the target.

Halifax U10s boys won all three of their West Yorkshire Division Two games played at Slazenger Hockey Club.

In the opener against Ben Rhydding, Harry Chandler grabbed the only goal in a 1-0 win and he also netted a late winner to see-off Leeds.

Harry grabbed his third goal of the day in the 2-0 win over Slazenger, Henry Bennett

adding the other.

The winning ways continued for Halifax U14s girls, who celebrated an impressive 8-2 success at Wakefield.

Lucy Hampshire broke the deadlock to put the visitors ahead and Martha Mackrill grabbed a second soon after.

In-form Lucy added to the tally with two more to complete her hat-trick and although Wakefield broke to reduce the arrears, Halifax took a 4-1 lead into the break.

Lucy latched onto a great cross by Edie Jones to extend Halifax’s lead on the resumption and she grabbed her fifth as the goals continued to flow.

Darcy Francis pounced on a deflected shot to get onto the scoresheet and Emily Atkinson made a great solo run to slot the ball home to round off the scoring. Orla BentleyElliot in the Halifax goal was voted player of the day.
