Strollers to host session for budding referees

-

Calder Valley Strollers Walking Football Club will be hosting their first introduction to walking football refereeing session on Sunday.

The session, at Todmorden Sports Centre’s indoor hall, will run from 1pm to 3pm.

It is designed for anyone who fancies having a go at refereeing a walking football session, perhaps to help develop as an official for their own club, to help out occasionally or just to get up to speed and feel more confident about the various laws of the game and how they can be applied.

It will comprise of theory sessions, looking at the rules of the game, and also practice sessions, applying the rules, where those taking part will get the chance to referee part of the club’s usual Sunday session or alternatively, spending some time observing others.

Participants will also get the chance to play walking football and show of their skills in a later session.

This isn’t a qualificationbased session, but will be a great experience and fun for those interested in refereeing, and could inspire budding officials to enrol on one of the qualification-based walking football referee courses in the near future.

The session costs £10 and includes walking football refereeing materials. Numbers are limited.

Strollers were formed in 2023 and hold regular weekly Sunday indoor sessions at Todmorden Sports Centre from 2pm to 3pm. The mixed sessions are a great way to keep fit.
