New man Jenkins has point to prove

-

Town boss Chris Millington says new signing Jack Jenkins comes to Halifax with a point to prove, writes Tom Scargill.

The 22-year-old has joined The Shaymen on an 18 month contract with the option of another year.

"Energetic, athletic, gets around the pitch, equally adept at getting back to help defend as he is getting forward to join in attacks,” Millington said on the midfielder.

"He's got a good range of passing on him and desperate to prove a point in terms of getting his career on track and fulfilling his potential."

Explaining how Jenkins came onto Town’s radar, Millington said: "Coops knows him from his time at Leeds and we've been monitoring his progress at certain loans he's had in the past.

"A mixture of Coops being aware of him and our recruitment department being aware of him.

"We've come to the conclusion that any opportunity to sign him, we should try and follow up."

Meanwhile, Millington was left angry at the way his FC Halifax Town side let a half-time lead slip in their 2-1 defeat to Aldershot last Saturday.

Max Wright's first-half goal put Town in control of the game during an impressive opening 45, but Aldershot fought back to win it as The Shaymen failed to replicate their performance in a dreadful second-half.

"I'm just angry really, it's a game we were comfortable in, we had the lead, we created chances," Millington told the Courier.

"It shows a soft underbelly that we couldn't see it out, really frustrating.

"We looked like a team who didn't have a plan in the second-half and why the lads couldn't stick to what had worked so well for them in the first-half, I don't know, but I'll get to the bottom of it and I'll find out who's able to see a plan through from the first minute to the final minute."

Town looked good in the firsthalf and deservedly led, but couldn't reproduce that performance in the second-half.

"Likewise, nor did Aldershot," Millington said. "They've had two chances second-half but Sam's goal has hardly been peppered secondhalf, they've hardly had to work particularly hard for their goals."
