Standing at the Sky’s Edge
My wife and I went to the opening night, February
9, of the new production of Standing at the Sky’s Edge at the Gillian Lynne Theatre in London.
We’d not seen it during previous runs but a lifelongLondoner friend and avid theatre-goer saw it in its previous guise at the National Theatre and told us it was the best production he had ever seen, of any genre – he wasn’t wrong.
Shatteringly good, spellbinding performances and heart-rending music. The script includes one mildly derogatory reference to Leeds and another to Hebden Bridge – slightly lost on the mostly London audience, of course. A wonderful piece of dramatic and musical art.
