Lions hop to Haworth for first race of Bunny Run series

Ten Stainland Lions hopped over to Haworth for the first of three Bunny Runs races in April, all of which are part of the club’s Fell Racing Championsh­ip.

The popular mid-week mini cross-country races usually attract around 200 runners and in wet and muddy conditions, James Penson was the first Lion over the finish line while Aileen Baldwin won her FV70 age category.

Results: James Penson 21:22, Leon Severn 21:44, Damien Pearson 22:42, Jim Harris 23:36, Clare Smith 24:43, Lance Parker 25:17, Paul Patrick 25:23, Aileen Baldwin 26:20 (1st FV70), Martin O’Brien 26:33, Laraine Penson 34:35.

Kevin Robinson took on the Silva Lakes Traverse, a 100k ultra that follows Wainwright’s coast to coast route through the Lake District fells and completed the challenge in 15:35:50.

Ian Hoskins and Michelle Rogerson took part in Sunday’s

Sheffield Half Marathon.

Sheffield is one of the best attended half marathons in the country, attracting thousands of runners of all abilities and raising many thousands of pounds for great causes.

It’s also one of the most scenic, with the route starting and finishing in the city centre, taking runners all the way out to the boundary of the Peak District National Park, with a few hills along the way.

Hoskins clocked a time of 1:48:20 with Rogerson following in 1:49:10.

Eddie Martin finished fifth in a field of more than 300 runners at the Vale of York 10 Mile race and Gail

Schofield clocked a personal best time of 1:24:38.

Results: Eddie Martin 58:55, Paul Corns 1:15:11, Michelle Rogerson 1:21:46, Gail Schofield 1:24:38.

Ian Hoskins took on the five-mile race, placing second M55 with a personal best of 37:42.

Helen Hudson recorded 1:19:20 to finish first F50 in the Boulsworth Bog fell race, a counter in the club’s Fell Running Championsh­ip.

Ray Mooney ran 1:23:23 in the 7.2 mile race that has 1280 feet of climb, with the route passing through farmland on the way to and from the foot of Boulsworth, with the middle section consisting of a clockwise loop over a wide and boggy plateau.
