Keslinke’s innings gets Oakworth over the line

-

There was a very strange looking scorecard at Queensbury in their home match against Oakworth in the ENCO Halifax League Second Division, writes Paul Whiteley.

Two batters, one from each team, were responsible for over half of the cumulative 131 runs scored in the match.

Queensbury batted first and were shot out for 64, taken apart by Tom Raby’s figures of 7-3-11-7. In reply Jake Keslinke (42 not out) ensured a winning score of 67-4 for the visitors.

At Leymoor, another low scoring match saw visiting Stones register a 12-run win over the hosts.

Stones batted first and posted 91 all out and the home team could only manage 79 all out, Phil Robbins (5-19) doing most of the damage.

Leaders Sowerby St Peter’s also struggled for runs and they complied a very similar total of 90 all out on the visit to Old Town.

In reply, the Town were soon in trouble and the phrase ‘couldn’t get it off the square’ aptly applied as only two balls reached the boundary.

They were eventually bowled out for 48 runs, Jack Leonard producing figures of 6.4-4-4-4.

Yet another score in the 90s came at Outlane and it turned out to be a winning one.

Batting first against Cullingworth, Outlane posted a lowly 94 all out. However the Bradford team fell six runs short of the win at 89 all out.

Bradley & Colnebridge’s visit to Bridgeholme brought about a score of 193 all out with Sajid Azeem (74) top scoring.

In reply, the Eastwood outfit had lost four wickets at 684 when Tuffique Butt (73 not out) and Zaheer Abbas (64 not out) came together. They smashed an unbeaten fifthwicket partnership of 128 runs to steer their team home in the 23th over at 196-4.

Runs were also hard to come by at Mount where Southowram visited.

The Rams batted first and the usually quick-scoring Dean Crossley needed 120 balls to compile 55 not out, in a 45 overs total of 131-8.

The home team found the track just as difficult and they fell seven runs short of the target at 124 all out, Ashley Johnson back in the wickets with 5-27.
