New legislation comes into place on December 31 in respect of the use of air weapons in Scotland.
From that date it will be illegal for anyone to possess an air weapon without a licence.
In advance of this change an amnesty began on May 23 and runs until June 12 which allows people to hand in unwanted air weapons to police offices.
There are 72 designated offices across the country with the local ones being Hamilton and Lanark.

Moving onto local matters, there have been some notable arrests which I would like to make you aware of.
Over the past week there have been two males arrested for allegedly being involved in the sale and supply of controlled drugs.
Firstly a 29-year-old man was arrested on May 19, in relation to cannabis plants allegedly recovered from a house in Main Street, Bothwell. And on May 20, in Castle Avenue, Uddingston, a 20-yearold man was arrested after allegedly being found in possession of around 4.5 kilos of cocaine.
We have had two motor vehicles stolen over the last week.
Between 7.30am on May 21 and 2pm on May 22 a white Ford Transit was stolen from a driveway in Pentland Gardens, Larkhall, and between 1pm on May 21 and 1.30am on May 22 another white Ford Transit was stolen from Woodhead Green in Hamilton.
We are also looking for witnesses and information in relation to two racial incidents which have occurred over
