Air weapon amnesty is launched

-

the last week.

At 3.35pm on May 21 a male was assaulted in a shop at the Burnbank Centre and a staff member was racially abused.

The suspect is a male, aged about 15 to 16, and was wearing a distinctive black jumper with a design of a female on the front and also had the number 17 on it.

The second incident occurred at 3.40pm on May 22 in a shop on Main Street, Blantyre, where staff were racially abused by the suspect within the store. The suspect is aged between 30 and 40, medium build, brown hair, wearing a black jacket and grey cap.

Finally I’m looking for information in relation to two housebreakings.

Between 6.30pm on May 16 and 4.30pm on May 18, the mosque on Avon Street, Hamilton, was broken into and at 4am on May 20 the evangelical church, Main Street, Bothwell, was broken into.

Lighter nights and better weather have seen an increased number of complaints regarding use of trail bike and quad bikes, particularly in Blantyre and Bothwell.

Several noise complaints have been received, but there is also a genuine safety concern for riders, passengers and other members of the public.

It is illegal to ride these types of vehicles on public footpaths. Those involved risk facing criminal charges and having their bikes seized by police.

I ask that they only use recognised sites, also that anyone with any information about those involved contact the police.

If you have any information you feel should be reported or information on any of the crimes previously detailed please contact the police using 101, or via Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
