MSP congratulates town club
Christina Mckelvie – the MSP for Hamilton, Larkhall and Stonehouse – enjoyed a celebratory event with members of Hamilton Caledonia Bowling Club.
She was a guest and speaker at their 125th anniversary dinner.
Club president Stewart Clarkson said: “It was a real pleasure to have Christina Mckelvie join us.
“She has become a real friend of the club, always willing to help and advise us. I think it is important that our MSP is interested in what’s going on at local clubs of every kind.”
The club have a thriving membership and welcome new members of any age. It has a qualified bowls coach available for advice and guidance.
Ms Mckelvie said: “I was absolutely delighted to join in the club’s anniversary event and to meet again with the lovely people and good friends that I’ve made there. I wish them well as they all move on to the next 125 years.”
Ms Mckelvie also placed a motion in the Scottish Parliament, currently on display at the club, emphasising her support.
It says: “The Parliament congratulates Hamilton Caledonian Bowling Club on its 125th anniversary; understands that the club, which has been part of the town since 1891, has a membership of 180, showing its importance to many as an opportunity to come together to enjoy the sport, whether it is a game between friends or a tournament match, along with the camaraderie that this brings.”
