The children tasted tapas and the school catering staff put on a special Spanish menu for the day to allow the children to experience internatio­nal food.

The primary two children then hosted a Spanish assembly to share what they had learned with their families and the wider community.

Staff and pupils were totally engaged in the activities and were excited by the opportunit­ies that the day provided and thoroughly enjoyed their insight into Spanish culture.

St Mark’s would like to say a huge thanks to Sainsbury’s Hamilton for donating tapas. It was a big hit with everyone. Every Tuesday afternoon Hillhouse and Earnock Community Centre host a 50-plus seniors activity club which has been extremely popular for over 30 years.

Rosemary Goodfellow has been running the club for over three decades and would like to welcome anyone who might be interested in becoming a member to join in the fun.

The club starts off with tea, coffee and rolls and then they move in to the big hall at around 1pm to take part in line dancing and then at 2pm they come together for a game of bingo.

The club also host days out and work hard to raise money for charity.

Members pay £1 a week and a further £1.20 if they want to participat­e in bingo.
