Not so rock ‘n’roll as lads from Busted pop in for tea

Opened a garden centre

- Shirley Bartynek

A rural tearoom was transformed into a `hard rock cafe’ when boy band Busted rolled up outside in their tour bus.

Customers visiting the Stablestone Tearoom and Garden Centre in the village of Glespin got a huge surprise when the cheeky Essex lads came in for a spot of lunch and signed the walls.

The chart-topping lads took some time out while on their UK tour to pop into the South Lanarkshire centre to cut the ribbon which marked its official opening.

James Bourne, Matt Willis and Charlie Simpson, who have recently got back together to reform Busted, were heading south after performing at Glasgow’s SSE Hydro, when they stopped off at the tearoom.

Owner Jim Anderson, who knows one of the Busted lads, was delighted they came to have a spot of lunch before doing the honours.

He said: “The boys took time out to stop and talk to the crowd which had gathered and allow a few photos. They proceeded to sign the interior wall of the tearoom.

“I was very happy to welcome Busted to the tearoom and garden centre, and delighted they agreed to do the opening.”

Stablestone Tearoom Home and Garden Centre is a family-run business situated on the A70 in the village of Glespin.
