Countdown to Stonehouse Gala week fun

Stonehouse Gala Group have released details of the fun-filled week of events leading up to the big day on Saturday, June 4.

The programme starts on Tuesday, May 31, with primary six and seven girls’football competitio­n (sponsored by Newfield Primary PTA and Stonehouse Primary PTA).

It takes place at Tileworks Park, from 6.30pm to 8.30pm.

Then on Wednesday, June 1, it’s the turn of the primary six and seven boys to get their footie boots on.

The competitio­n is sponsored by Stonehouse Business Associatio­n.

On Thursday, June 2, there will be a family car treasure hunt, sponsored by Studlearoy­al Horse Drawn Carriages.

Treasure Hunt leaves from St Ninian’s Church hall, from 6.15pm onwards.

The entry fee is £5 per car and no registrati­on is required, just turn up on the night.

Judging of Best Decorated House and Best Scarecrow will take place on Friday, June 3 between approximat­ely 7pm – 8pm.

Organisers ask everyone to take a walk or drive around the village and support everyone that is taking part – a list of streets where the decorated houses and scarecrows are situated will be posted on the gala facebook page.

Saturday, June 4, is the event everyone has been waiting for – the gala day itself.

The parade will leave Lifestyles at 11.30am prompt.

There will be cash prizes available for best decorated car/trailer, best decorated pram/bike, best walking pageant and best fancy dress.

The gala group have asked people to get behind the week of events and turn out to give their support.
