Appeal to help make village brighter

-

The Stonehouse Brighter Village Group have appealed for new recruits to help them spruce up the area.

A team of volunteers are preparing to start planting and maintenance work in the community garden, and the almost 30 planters that are situated from one end of the village to the other.

And they are calling on local residents who have any spare time on their hands to join them and boost their efforts.

A spokesperson for the group said:“once again the Stonehouse Brighter group are preparing to start planting and maintaining the community garden and the planters.

“We are a group of only six and are struggling to maintain the gardens and planters. We are a village of approximately 7000 people and are appealing for help.

“We meet every Tuesday evening at 6pm at the community garden but we can accommodate daytime gardening to suit.

“It doesn’t matter how young or old you are as we have gardening chores to suit all ages. If need be we can supply the appropriate tools - so come on Stonehouse people and help make your village a more attractive place to live in. We only ask for half an hour or an hour of your time per week.

“Most of our planters are now sponsored by local businesses for which we are very grateful.”

The group’s annual plant sale takes place on Saturday, May 27, outside the medical centre from 10am until noon.
