Kids’ big fundraiser
A group of 45 children attended Hamilton Accies Superseal Stadium during the school holidays to take part in an egg-stra special Easter pantomime to raise funds for charity.
Organised by Lanarkshire actor Garry Ellis, the youngsters from his drama school, Go Kids Scotland, worked hard to bring together a fab and fun performance of Jack in the Beanstalk in just four days.
The event was aimed at raising funds and awareness of the work of the Community Outreach programme based at Hamilton Accies Football Club.
And Garry (29), who played the dame in last year’s Motherwell Civic Centre panto, was delighted with the response to his Easter acting camp.
He said: “I have had so much support that it is impossible to thank everyone individually. Thanks to all of the Go Kids parents and families for your support.
“Thanks also go to my friends for dropping everything and helping me all week with technical jobs, costumes, make up, hair and wigs – especially Ian for doing 12-hour days to make sure everything was the way I wanted.
“Also thanks go to my mum and my team for helping organise and for working so well with the children.
“Most of all I want to thank my kids! They have been polite, well behaved and, most importantly, we all had a laugh! The show was better than I ever imagined it would be. They learned lines, dances, songs and much more. We made new friends and really created something special.”
Students from Garry’s classes in Hamilton, Motherwell, Bellshill, Carluke, Wishaw and Shotts only attended a four-day workshop during the first week of the Easter holidays and then starred in two shows on Friday, April 7.
