Friendly festival of one act plays to be staged

-

East Kilbride Rep Theatre Club’s popular one-act play competition returns to the Village Theatre this May.

The annual Rep Fest is a fantastic week of theatre that sees amateur dramatics clubs from across the country perform a short one act play. Every play is professionally adjudicated at the end of each night – publicly to the audience and privately to the cast and production team. And on the final night of the ‘friendly festival’, trophies from six different

Theatre

categories are awarded.

The categories are: Best Staging; Best Actress; Best Actor; Best Production; Production in Second Place; and Production in Third Place.

Since the festival began in 1984, over 400 plays have been put under the spotlight.

Clubs have come from far and wide and this year, the Rep welcome some old friends as well as some new clubs with groups from Campbeltown, Greenock, Carluke, Rutherglen, Fintry and Glasgow.

Rep Fest runs from Wednesday, May 10, to Saturday, May 13. Curtain up 7.30pm.

Tickets are priced £4 for shows on Wednesday, Thursday or Friday, £6 for the Saturday show or £12 for a ticket for the whole festival.
