It was another busy week on the Advertiser’s social media pages.
One story many of our readers commented on was our article about South Lanarkshire Council wanting the powers to penalise drivers who park on the pavements.
Currently Police Scotland are responsible for monitoring pavement parking and issuing penalties where the action has caused an obstruction for pedestrians or other vehicles.
But the council said last week it wants pavement parking decriminalised, in the same way that other parking offences have been for several years.
Steven Murray posted: “I hope they get it as there are too many inconsiderate drivers who don’t care where they park.”
Loraine Dun Can added: “It creates a danger and the word ‘pavement’ gives the game away that it’s not for cars.”
