Family’s agony as police step up hunt

Police have stepped up the hunt for a Whitehill man who has been missing since the weekend.

The devastated family of Jamie Mcculloch have made desperate appeals on social media for help in tracing the 27-year-old.

Jamie left a friend’s house in the Lanark area on Sunday (August 27) at 5am.

He was last seen running into a field near Stonebyres Power Station, Kirkfieldb­ank.

Special police teams have been scouring the area and a force helicopter was brought in to help.

Jamie’s mum Fiona said on social media: “This is breaking our hearts.”

His brother Craig has also taken to social media in a desperate bid to find him.

He posted: “We will find him and bring him home to his family – we love you.”

The devastated family of a missing Whitehill man have made heartfelt pleas for help.

Jamie Mcculloch (27) left a friend’s house in the Lanark area on Sunday at 5am. He was last seen running into a field near Stonebyres Power Station, Kirkfieldb­ank.

Police have been searching in the area since, using a force helicopter and specialist search teams.

Jamie is described as 6ft 2in and of stocky build. When he was last seen he was wearing a black jacket, black t-shirt and grey jeans.

His mum Fiona Mcculloch posted on Facebook on Sunday: “My son Jamie has been missing since 6 o’clock this morning. Police believe he may have fallen down a steep incline into the Clyde near Kirkfieldb­ank.

“Please, please if anyone has seen him or knows something let us know. We are desperate for news.”

She added on Tuesday: “It is now 48 hours since my boy disappeare­d. Please, please, please if anyone knows anything let us and the police know. This is breaking our hearts.”

Jamie’s brother Craig has also taken to social media in a desperate bid to find him.

In a series of updates on Twitter he posted: “Phenomenal response thank you, we are still searching for my big brother. We will find him and bring him home to his family – we love you.”

He posted on Facebook on Tuesday: “I can’t begin to thank everyone who has devoted and offered their time and efforts to our families over the past few days. Your help has allowed us to cover a great amount of land.

“We are still searching for my big brother, I know he is out there waiting for us. He is the strongest person I know who can deal with anything thrown at him. I love you so much Jamie.

“Please continue to share posts from news outlets and myself and others. Every share means so much and puts us one step closer to finding Jamie.

“If you have any informatio­n please report straight to the police, not matter how insignific­ant it may seem. The overwhelmi­ng response from people who have wished for Jamie’s safe return gives us hope. Thank you endlessly.”

Sergeant Katie Mackinnon from Lanark Police Office said: “Since Jamie was reported missing officers have been carrying out extensive searches in the local area.

“I would ask anyone who has seen Jamie or who has any informatio­n on his whereabout­s to contact Lanark Police Office via 101.”
