New classes come with strings attached
Guitar stars are back
These youngsters have strum-thing to shout about – as their new guitar class starts tonight (Thursday, August 31).
The Lanarkshire Guitar & Mandolin Association are beginning a new term of rock and pop classes every Thursday evening in Trinity Parish Church.
Tonight will be the first class of the new term, which will run for 12 weeks.
The association’s Calum Harbison said: “The classes are for people aged 11 to 18 years from anywhere in the Hamilton area.
“This session there will be a class for beginners, one for intermediate and one for advanced players. The young people will learn pop and rock music ranging from new bands and artists to older classic rock.”
There are some places in each of the classes, and anybody needing more information should contact Calum on 07847 250529 or 01475 721048 as soon as possible.
Participants should have their own guitar (acoustic or electric), but all the learning materials will be provided.
Youngsters from the classes recently performed to parents and friends in their annual concert, when the show included music by Oasis, Biffy Clyro, Iron Maiden, the Courteeners and Panic! at the Disco.
The Lanarkshire Guitar & Mandolin Association is a voluntary organisation and has been running a range of music groups for young people in South 1999.
