Mr Braidwood opened the show and reminisced about attending it in his younger years.
He then paid tribute to the society, which is celebrating its 175th anniversary, and wished it every success in future.
Mr Braidwood paid tribute to the society’s committee and exhibitors for their hard work before declaring the show open.
Show secretary Ken Hamilton, announced major prize-winners and Mr Braidwood presented the trophies to the winners.
Society vice president Bill Gow handed over trophies to Mr Braidwood for two photographic exhibits.
Madison Davidson presented Mr Braidwood with a bouquet of flowers as a token of thanks.
Mr Hamilton said: “Despite the changeable weather this summer, entries in most sections were up, and the quality of exhibits was extremely high and closely contested.
“There were an excellent number and quality of entries in the Art and Photography sections.” The official proceedings came to a conclusion with a vote of thanks by society vicepresident, Bill Gow, to all who had participated in any way and to Father Doyle of St Bride’s for the use of the Pastoral Centre.
