Robinson is ‘Well pleased with win

Motherwell ........... 2 Hearts ................... 1

Delighted Stephen Robinson watched his side fight back from a goal down to beat Hearts 2-1 and said they deserved the win.

Kyle Lafferty broke the deadlock after half an hour, but Ryan Bowan levelled in 37 minutes and Louis Moult sealed the win four minutes later with a spectacular strike.

Robinson said: “I thought we earned it. We battled hard, we went 1-0 down at a time when I thought we were playing quite well, and it shows the character in the squad to come back and win the game.

“I think our confidence has been high all along, with seven wins out of nine, and in the two league games that we lost we were still in them and had positives to take. We are going in the right direction at the moment.”

Jamie Walker won the ball and played it to Lafferty, who drove low to open the scoring for Hearts.

The lead lasted just seven minutes before Moult nodded down a Richard Tait cross for Bowman to stoop and head in from close range.

Within four minutes Motherwell were ahead, and what a goal it was.

Walker was dispossessed just outside the box, the ball broke to Moult and he lifted a shot over Jack Hamilton and into the top corner of the net.

Motherwell were denied a third when a Moult header was cleared by Christophe Berra, who appeared to be over the line.
