Cannabis oil cancer cure claim goes viral

Lynn’s sensational survival story shared around the world

- Stefanie Mccourt

The story of a Blantyre woman who claims to have cured her brain cancer by using cannabis oil went viral this week.

The Advertiser reported how Lynn Cameron (48) was given just “six to 18 months” to live in December 2013.

And our story was shared 115,000 times around the world on social media.

Following sessions of chemotherapy and radiotherapy, Lynn opted to try cannabis oil in a desperate bid to save her life – and was later given the all-clear.

She is now part of a new campaign group, Medicinal Cannabis Reform Scotland (MCRS), which is pushing “for the reform of the current prohibitive laws around the use of cannabis for medication”.

Lynn said: “I researched more and more into natural ‘cancer killers’ and decided to follow an alkaline diet and cut out processed foods altogether. I also cut out sugar completely.

“I started taking cannabis oil under my tongue, as it gets straight into the blood stream that way.

“Each scan I received after that was showing an improvement. I had been told that chemotherapy and radiotherapy doesn’t make much difference, so I knew it must be the cannabis doing it.

“By the sixth MRI, the cancer had gone.”

Lynn joined fellow members of MCRS for a meeting in Edinburgh last week, and has taken part in Facebook live sessions after being overwhelmed by the response to the Advertiser’s story – which was shared around the globe.

She was accompanied in one of the videos by MCRS campaign manager, Harvey Leo, who said: “There has been so many people contacting us since Lynn’s story of her cancer survival went viral. It has been quite overwhelming.

“We don’t have any legal access to cannabis or a magic wand. As much as we would dearly love to help every person who has contacted us, it’s just not in our capabilities to do so.”

In a bid to support those who have been in touch, the group will be hosting further live sessions, and information on their work can be found on Facebook @ Mcreformscotland.

A spokesperson for the group continued: “The team would like to thank everyone for their support and feedback. We are completely overwhelmed by your hundreds of messages regarding our campaign.

“Our meeting in Edinburgh went well, and we will be providing updates as soon as we can.

“We understand that many of you are in the same situation as our campaign assistant manager, Lynn Cameron, and are looking for advice and to learn more about her journey.

“We request that you have patience with us on creating a plan to get as much information out to you as we are able to.

“In our video Lynn and our other team members will answer as many of your questions as we can, including the questions we have been sent via social media and during a live video.

“Please keep in mind that we also have restrictions on what we can do to help you, and your own online research will play a big part in your journey.

“We once again would like to thank you profusely, for your support and also for your kind comments.”
