Teenager cleared of Football Act charge

- Court reporter

A Motherwell teenager has walked free from court after being cleared of a charge against him under the Offensive Behaviour at Football Act.

Lewis Faulkner (18) appeared at Hamilton Sheriff Court last week for trial and maintained his plea of not guilty.

He denied the charge against him which was alleged to have taken place in Motherwell’s Airbles Road following Motherwell’s clash with Rangers on August 6.

The teenager, of Edison Court, was accused of, while acting with others, engaging in behaviour that was likely to incite public disorder by shouting, swearing, lashing out with his arms and struggling with police.

However, at his trial Faulkner was found not guilty of the charge against him and he was free to leave the dock.
