Rotarians welcome speaker

-

The Rotary Club of Hamilton met at Hamilton Golf club last Thursday, November 2.

Speaker Dr Barry Adamsstrump, a GP and pastpresident of the Rotary Club of Govan, focused upon murder cases in which the perpetrators were doctors.

Dr Ruxton, an Indianborn British physician, was hanged for the murders of his common law wife Isabella and the family housemaid Jane Rogerson in 1935.

Dr Crippen, was an American who murdered wife Cora Henrietta Crippen in London, then fled to America.

He is remembered in particular for the fact he was the first suspect to be captured due to messages being sent across the Atlantic by the newlyinvented method of wireless telegraphy.

Hamish Wilson proposed a vote of thanks, which was warmly responded to by all.
