Accies ladies fall to costly defeat

-

Hamilton Accies Women coach Gary Doctor slammed his players’ complacency after they fell to a 3-0 defeat against basement side Aberdeen on Sunday.

Any other result would have guaranteed SWPL1 status for next season, and Doctor hopes the disappointment of defeat fires his players up to grab the result they need this weekend as they host Spartans at the Superseal.

Doctor said:“i think the players thought the job was done by beating Rangers last week.

“I t has been a long time since I was more disappointed after a game.

“I picked the same 11, thinking we could kick on from last week, but it was like 11 different players who turned up – that’s where I shoulder some of the blame.

“We never really got going until we were 2-0 down and that’s unforgiveable.”

It was win or bust for the Dons, and a Chloe Fitzpatrick hat-trick gave them a glimmer of hope with two games left.

Doctor added:”now only a win keeps us up; a draw won’t be enough.”
