Hamilton ...................... 2 Aberdeen ...................... 2

Dougie Imrie was pleased to help Hamilton take a point from Aberdeen, and said that’s exactly the type of game they would have lost before.

Imrie’s superb free-kick put Hamilton ahead in 19 minutes, only for Greg Stewart to level in 27 minutes before Aberdeen took the lead through Kari Arnason’s powerful header in 74 minutes.

However, within a minute Accies were level through a superb goal from David Templeton.

Imrie says the turn-around from 1-0 to 2-1 could have seen previous Hamilton teams sink to defeat, but says this side has strength and character.

He said: “I felt confident and actually said before the game that I would score from a free kick, so there you go – but it’s not about me scoring free kicks, it’s about the performance of the team, and I thought that was up there with the best this season.

“From start to finish I thought we were excellent, we put Aberdeen under a lot of pressure and on another day we could have been 2-0 or 3-0 up before the equalised, if we had taken our chances.

“On another day gone by that might have been a game we lost after being ahead and losing two silly goals, but the character shown by everyone to go back and get the equaliser was excellent, and hopefully we can continue, move on from this and start picking up more points.

“We know, on our day, we can beat anyone if we perform to a level that we know we can.
