Police hunt men who struck in Millgate Road
Police are hunting two “despicable individuals” after a lollipop lady was robbed at knifepoint in Hamilton.
The shocking incident occurred outside the Mill Inn on Millgate Road as the woman carried out her duties around 3.30pm on Tuesday (February 20).
Two men threatened the 36-year-old victim with a knife before robbing her of a two-figure sum of cash. They then made off along Millgate Road.
The first man is described as 5ft 5ins, skinny with a shaved head and rotten teeth. He was wearing a black tracksuit top, a white T-shirt and black tracksuit bottoms.
The second is 5ft 5ins, of heavy build with short dark hair and also has rotten teeth. He was wearing a black tracksuit top, a grey t-shirt and black tracksuit bottoms.
Police say the lollipop lady was not injured during the incident.
Detective Constable David Macmillan, from Cambuslang CID, said: “These two despicable individuals preyed on a lollipop lady right in the middle of the school run and thankfully no children were beside her at the time.
“The area will have been busy with people collecting children from school and I would appeal to anyone who noticed these two men beside the lollipop lady, or in the surrounding area, to please get in touch.
“I would also ask any motorists with dashcams who were in the area around 3.30pm yesterday to come forward in case they have captured the incident or the suspects making off from the scene.
“Anyone with information is asked to contact Cambuslang CID via 101, quoting incident number 2605 of Tuesday 20 February 2018. Alternatively you can call CRIMESTOPPERS on 0800 555 111 where details can be given in confidence.”
