Ups and Downs can’t wait to Take you on a magical journey

-

The cast of Ups and Downs Theatre Group are set to take their audience on a musical journey this March with their latest show – Take 23.

This will be the group’s 23rd annual show and the cast can’t wait to get on stage and perform to their audience at The Townhouse, Hamilton.

The group was set up in 1995 by three school teachers – George Barclay, Elaine Kirkwood and Theresa Mckinnon – and has gone from strength to strength.

They are now running at capacity with 50 Down’s syndrome cast, seven siblings and 12 helpers. This year the first act is Transport, Nonsense Words and Sun, Moon and Stars and Act 2 is titled A Night at the Movies.

And there is guaranteed to be lots of upbeat, toe-tapping songs to sing along to.

President, Vicki Mccluskey said: “We have been very lucky over the years. The group won The Sunday Mail Great Scot Community Champion Award a few years ago.

“In 2016 they were invited to sing at The Fringe in Edinburgh and last year they performed at The Royal Highland Show.

“Wherever they are, the cast always give their best performance. We are a parent-led group with a wonderful production team, back stage crew and front of house helpers that we couldn’t do without.

“Everyone at Ups and Downs can’t wait to welcome you to the show.”

Take 23 is being performed at The Town House, Hamilton, from Monday, March 5 until Saturday, March 10 (no Wed performance).

The show starts at 7.30pm, with doors opening at 6.30pm, and finishes at 10pm.
