Mcarthur who gave us an excellent insight into the many forms of help he and his colleagues give to ill children and their families including fundraisin­g all around the area. Sheila Moore gave the vote of thanks before everyone enjoyed a lovely supper supplied and served by the committee. The sales table did a roaring trade and the proceeds of this and the raffle formed the donation. Competitio­ns: Handmade get well card for a child – 1, Marion Russell; 2, Betty Moore; 3, Sheila Moore. Small child’s gift – 1, Marion Russell; 2, Irene Conn; 3, Marion Armour. The lovely selection of gifts were also given to the charity. On Thursday, March 8 at 7.30pm in the village hall there will be a talk by the Dogs Trust. Competitio­ns are three flapjacks and a favourite dog ornament. On Friday, March 23 at 7.30pm in the village hall, the WRI will be holding a whist drive, followed by a lovely supper. Everyone welcome. The next meeting of Strathaven and Glassford Community Council will be held on Tuesday (February 27).

The forum will take place from 7.30pm at Strathaven’s Ballgreen Hall.

Aileen Stewart asked to join the community council as a member at the last meeting and that is expected to be confirmed.

Members are also expected to discuss ongoing issues, including that of the local post office.

Anyone with an interest in local issues or has something to raise will be made welcome.
