The Hamilton, Larkhall and Stonehouse MSP was on hand to donate her charitable fee for participating in an annual Yougov survey.

Larkhall and District Volunteer Group, established in 1994, aim to promote the benefit and welfare of elderly, chronically ill, or disabled people, and people experiencing social isolation or in need of rehabilitation.

Ms Mckelvie visited one of the IT training classes and met with staff and patrons of the group. The SNP politician said: “I was delighted to donate the proceeds of my charity survey to the Larkhall and District Volunteer Group who continue to provide vital support throughout my constituency.

“From their lunch clubs and handy person services, to their IT classes and transport hire, they offer a friendly face and caring nature to those experiencing social isolation.

“I look forward to continuing my great relationship with the volunteers, and I am in no doubt that the donation will go towards the group expanding and providing even more services.”

Funding and marketing co-ordinator for the Larkhall and District Volunteer Group, Sandra Mccrory, said: “We were very pleased to welcome Christina to see our wonderful venue here.

“She showed a genuine interest in the work we are doing and was able to offer practical advice about further partnership working that could allow us to expand our services to older people in the area.

“We are grateful for her valued input and for her donation to our charity and hope to see her visit again in the future”.
